Transport is vital for moving people and goods from place to place on land, over the sea and through the air. This book looks at the various forms of transport in use and the reasons for choosing one form instead of another, depending upon the cost, what has to be carried and the nature of the journey. It also examines how transport systems are planned and built, and the effects they have on the environment.
The author, Mark Lambert, has written many information books for children, particularly in the areas of science, technology and transport.
