The Jungle Book
‘The Jungle Book’, originally written by Rudyard Kipling, was first published in 1894.
The story tells us about the child ‘Mowgli’, who is a foundling, lovingly brought up by wolves. While growing up amidst various animal mentors and friends, Mowgli learns the Laws of the Jungle’.
Key figures of the story are Bagheera, the wise black panther, and Baloo, the sleepy bear. These two wild friends contribute to the child’s education.
Author has also shown great enmity between Mowgli and the tiger Shere Khan who had killed Mowgli’s parents. The simplicity of the concept, the affection shared between animals of the jungle and the man’s child (Mowgli) creates a touching and lasting influence on the young readers.
